Renaming will cause trouble!
We encourage users to explore the shared folders - that's what they're there for, right? Don't put folders that they can't or shouldn't access in their faces. Les. It is obvious that MS didn't think this one through properly way back when - hence the kludge of adding $ to the end to make them invisible.

It seemed that my problems were solved however,when I tried to browse Network Neighborhood, the Win98 computers were still invisible to the Win95 machines. Strangely, if I used the Find Computer feature, the Win98 machines showed and all shared folders files and printers worked properly.

Invisible resources
Hi there, question about shared folders in W2K. I have a folder that I've shared for network users. This folder contains other folders that the various groups can access, I always thought that Windows was the same....no permissions, and the folder was invisible.
